While this is not really a research project, it one that is very dear to my heart. This was the project I used to learn how to write my first lines of code. I came up with the idea of having an web-app that has frequently used phrases in multiple languages to make communication between patients and care-givers who don’t speak the same language easier in the absence of an interpreter. I came up with the idea while I was in college and working a day-job as an Arabic interpreter at the Johns Hopkins hospital.
I named the app Insterpreter (instant interpreter).
This project was a solo effort in every aspect, and while it was never implemented and never used, I love it because it reminds me of my roots and the countless hours and sleepless nights I spent learning how to do web programming and taking that concept from a simple idea in my mind until it materialized as a functioning piece of technology.
